Acting History
Keara considers herself first and foremost an actor. She has been involved in theatre for fifteen years, starting out with Strathclyde Theatre Group in Glasgow and attending Robin Wilson's Actors' Lab at Strathclyde University. She gained a BA (with Distinction) in Drama and Theatre Arts at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh.
Roles have included Ranyevskaia, in Chekov's The Cherry Orchard, Gertrude in Shakepeare's Hamlet, The Emcee in Brecht's Fear and Misery of The Third Reich and Anna in Alexander Galin's Stars In The Morning Sky. She also portrayed the historical figure, Geilie Duncan, in The Devil's Craft at The Gothenburg, Prestonpans.
Keara worked in improv theatre for two years with the theatre troupe Scabaret which toured across Central and Eastern Europe.
Keara appeared in STV's Taggart and starred opposite Steven McNicol in the BBC sketch show, Velvet Soup. She also appeared in the films, The Best Man, directed by Stefan Schwartz, and Joy Division, directed by Reg Traviss.
In 2009 Keara worked with Theatre Broad on a new productin of J.M. Barrie - Peter Pan Man - three one-act plays celebrating Scotland's son of Kirriemuir. Keara played KATE in The Twelve Pound Look, a pre-war feminist play and considered to be one of Barrie's finest one-act plays. She also played MRS TOVEY in Barrie's lighthearted comedy Seven Women and made cameo appearances in M'Connachie & J.M.B - a new play by Anne Stenhouse exploring Barrie's alter-ego "M'Connachie is the unryly half of myself; the writing half" Says Barrie.
The play made its debut at the Byre Theatre, St Andrews and then toured to The Albert Halls, Stirling.
